• [Why 21:1] John Saw The Heav’n And Earth Made New

  John saw the Heav’n and earth made new, The first had passed away, The holy city coming down, The new Jerusalem. And God Himself shall dwell with men, And wipe away all tears, There is no sorrow, pain or death, Throughout the coming years. “Behold, I make all things anew,” These faithful words are true, To him who overcometh sin, On earth with God shall rule. In beautiful Jerusalem, God’s glory gives it light, All kings and nations walk in it, “For there shall be no night.”

• [Why 21:1] One Day There’ll Be New Earth And Heaven

  One day there’ll be new earth and Heaven, for the first will soon pass away. And the Holy City, from Heaven will appear in bridal array. Then with men God will make his dwelling; they will be his people indeed. God himself will be with them always and their God will ever be. God will wipe away every teardrop; there’ll be no more crying or pain. Death and mourning will have no place there; old things will no longer remain. From his throne God utters this promise: “I am making everything new!” Now is written all that’s been spoken, for these words are trusted and true. God the Lord is Alpha, Omega, the Beginning and the End. From the spring of living water, a free drink he’ll give to all men. He who overcomes will inherit all the blessings found in God’s Word. He will be God’s son for all ages; God will be his God and his Lord. See the Holy City, Jerusalem, out of Heav’n from God coming down, Brilliant as a jewel, clear as crystal, with God’s glory shining around. There’s no need for sunshine or moonlight, for God’s glory gives light to all, And the Lamb of God is its temple and a lamp for all in its walls. Nations all will walk by its lamplight; kings will bring their splendor therein. Never will the gates shut and locked be, for no night will ever descend. Nothing that’s impure will e’er enter—no immoral, dishonest men. Only those whose names have been written in the book of life may come in.

  Righteous God! Whose vengeful phials All our fears and thoughts exceed, Big with woes and fiery trials, Hanging, bursting o’er our head; While Thou visitest the nations, Thy selected people spare; Arm our cautioned souls with patience, Fill our humbled hearts with prayer. Thy vineyards and thy orchards are Most beautiful and fair, Full furnished with trees and fruits, Most wonderful and rare. Thy gardens and thy gallant walks Continually are green: There grow such sweet and pleasant flowers As nowhere else are seen. There is nectar and ambrosia made, There is musk and civet sweet; There many a fair and dainty drug Is trodden under feet. There cinnamon, there sugar grows, Here nard and balm abound. What tongue can tell or heart conceive The joys that there are found? Quite through the streets with silver sound The flood of life doth flow, Upon whose banks on every side The wood of life doth grow. There trees for evermore bear fruit, And evermore do spring; There evermore the angels be, And evermore do sing. There David stands with harp in hand As master of the choir: Ten thousand times that man were blessed That might this music hear. Our Lady sings Magnificat With tune surpassing sweet, And all the virgins bear their part, Sitting at her feet. From the third heav’n, where God resides, That holy, happy place, The new Jerusalem comes down, Adorned with shining grace. • [Why 21:4] Away With Our Sorrow And Fear

  Away with our sorrow and fear! We soon shall recover our home, The city of saints shall appear, The day of eternity come: From earth we shall quickly remove, And mount to our native abode, The house of our Father above, The palace of angels and God. Our mourning is all at an end, When, raised by the life-giving Word, We see the new city descend, Adorned as a bride for her Lord; The city so holy and clean, No sorrow can breathe in the air; No gloom of affliction or sin, No shadow of evil is there. By faith we already behold That lovely Jerusalem here; Her walls are of jasper and gold, As crystal her buildings are clear; Immovably founded in grace, She stands as she ever hath stood, And brightly her Builder displays, And flames with the glory of God.   Come, let us now forget our mirth, And think that we must die: What are our best delights on earth, Compared with those on high? A sad and sinful world is this, Although it seems so fair; But Heaven is perfect joy and bliss, For God Himself is there. Here all our pleasures soon are past, Our brightest joys decay; But pleasures there for ever last, And can not fade away. Here many a pain and bitter groan Our feeble bodies tear; But pain and sickness are not known, And never shall be, there. Here sins and sorrows we deplore With many cares distressed; But there the mourners weep no more, And there the weary rest. • [Why 21:5] Behold, These Words Are Trustworthy And True

  Behold, these words are trustworthy and true, For God the Lord is making all things new. He showed His servants what must take place, The plagues and blessings set for Adam’s race. Now keep these words, for he who overcomes Will gain new life and he will be God’s son. “Behold,” says Jesus, “Quick I come again; Most blest is he who keeps My words made plain. The time is near; reward is in sight. So holy stay and always seek the right. The First, the Last, Beginning and the End, The Alpha and Omega e’er I am.” How blest are those who wash their robes from sin, That they may to the city enter in And to the tree of life have full right. They’ll see God’s face, and He will give them light. The curse is gone! They’ll reign forevermore With Jesus, David’s Root, bright Morning Star. The Spirit and the bride of Christ say, “Come!” And let each one who hears these words say, “Come!” Yea, whosoever thirsts, let him come. The drink of life is free; let all men come! • [Why 21:5] Glory To God! The Morn Appointed Breaks

  Glory to God! The morn appointed breaks, And earth awakes from all the woeful past; For, with the morn, the Lord of life awakes, And sin and death into the grave are cast. Glory to God! The cross, with all its shame, Now sheds its glory o’er a ransomed world; For He Who bore the burden of our blame, With piercèd hands the foe to hell hath hurled. Glory to God! Sing, ransomed souls again, And let your songs our glorious Victor laud, Who by His might hath snapped the tyrant’s chain, And set us free to rise with Him to God. Darkness and night, farewell! The morn is here; Welcome! the light that ushers in the day; Visions of joy before our sight appear, And, like the clouds, our sorrows melt away. Great Son of God, immortal and renowned!   What wonderful words in the Gospel of grace Our loving Redeemer has giv’n! How happy are they who in spirit are pure, For theirs is the kingdom of Heav’n!   O Life that makest all things new, The blooming earth, the thoughts of men, Our pilgrim feet, wet with Thy dew, In gladness hither turn again. From hand to hand the greeting flows, From eye to eye the signals run, From heart to heart the bright hope glows, The seekers of the Light are one. One in the freedom of the truth, One in the joys of paths untrod, One in the soul’s perennial youth, One in the larger thought of God. The freer step, the fuller breath, The wide horizon’s grander view, The sense of life that knows no death, The Life that maketh all things new!
