• [Rm 15:8] We Limit Not The Truth Of God

  We limit not the truth of God To our poor reach of mind, By notions of our day and sect, Crude, partial, and confined. No, let a new and better hope Within our hearts be stirred: Refrain The Lord hath yet more light and truth To break forth from His Word. Darkling our great forefathers went The first steps of the way; ’Twas but the dawning yet to grow Into the perfect day.   Sinners, rejoice: your peace is made; Your Savior on the cross hath bled: Your God, in Jesus reconciled, On all His works again hath smiled; Hath grace through Him and blessing giv’n, To all in earth and all in Heav’n. Angels rejoice in Jesus’ grace, And vie with man’s more favored race; The blood that did for us atone, Conferred on them some gift unknown; Their joy through Jesus’ pains abounds, They triumph by His glorious wounds. Or, stablished and confirmed by Him Who did our lower world redeem, Secure they keep their blest estate, Firm on an everlasting seat; Or, raised above themselves, aspire, In bliss improved, in glory higher. Him they beheld, our conquering God, Returned with garments rolled in blood! They saw, and kindled at the sight, And filled with shouts the realms of light; With loudest hallelujahs met, And fell, and kissed His bleeding feet. They saw Him in the courts above.   Thro’ the sacrifice of Jesus the Lamb, Thro’ the blood full atonement is made, He has carried all our burdens of sorrow, And on Him our transgressions were laid. • [Ibr 9:15] Jesus, In Thee Our Eyes Behold

  Jesus, in Thee our eyes behold A thousand glories more, Than the rich gems and polished gold The sons of Aaron wore. They first their own burnt offerings brought, To purge themselves from sin; Thy life was pure without a spot, And all Thy nature clean. Fresh blood as constant as the day Was on their altar spilt; But Thy one offering takes away For ever all our guilt. Their priesthood ran through several hands, For mortal was their race; Thy never changing office stands Eternal as Thy days. Once in the circuit of a year, With blood, but not his own, Aaron within the veil appears Before the golden throne: But Christ, by His own powerful blood, Ascends above the skies, And in the presence of our God Shows His own sacrifice. Jesus, the King of glory, reigns On Zion’s heav’nly hill; Looks like a lamb that has been slain, And wears His priesthood still. He ever lives to intercede Before His Father’s face: Give Him, my soul, thy cause to plead, Nor doubt the Father’s grace.

• [Ibr 12:24] Victim Divine, Thy Grace We Claim

  Victim Divine, Thy grace we claim, While thus Thy precious death we show: Once offered up a spotless Lamb, In Thy great temple here below, Thou didst for all mankind atone, And standest now before the throne. Thou standest in the holy place, As now for guilty sinners slain; The blood of sprinkling speaks, and prays, All prevalent for helpless man; Thy blood is still our ransom found, And speaks salvation all around. The smoke of Thy atonement here Darkened the sun, and rent the veil, Made the new way to Heaven appear, And showed the great Invisible; Well pleased in Thee, our God looked down, And calls His rebels to a crown. He still respects Thy sacrifice; Its savor sweet doth always please: The offering smokes through earth and skies, Diffusing life, and joy, and peace; To these, Thy lower courts, it comes, And fills them with divine perfumes. We need not now go up to Heaven, To bring the long sought Savior down; Thou art to all already given, Thou dost e’en now Thy banquet crown: To every faithful soul appear, And show Thy real presence here!

  Blood of His Covenant, Sprinkles down upon us, Cleanses our filthiness; washes from sin! Pour down upon our hearts! Flood over our rescued souls! Seal our great acquittal from all guilt within! Gone are my stains of guilt; Gone my deep pollution; Gone, gone to Calvary; lost in His grave! There lies my wickedness, forever buried! Spotless, I adore Him, for all that He gave! Closed is the great abyss! Silent, my accuser! Only Christ’s righteousness speaks now for me. I feel His nail-scarred hand, tenderly washing all! Loved in the Beloved, O how can this be? Worship the mystery! Fall in mute amazement! Murmur astonished praise there at His feet! Now breaks my heart of stone; now comes His Spirit; Now my heart of flesh is quickened to beat.

  If asked whereon I rest my claim To full salvation’s joy, If nothing more I need to name, Or other words employ, Besides our Savior’s blood and wounds, To me all-satisfying grounds; I answer then, “My claim is good! ’Tis based on Jesus’ blood.” This is my hope’s foundation firm, Which ever shall endure; Yea, at the end of life’s brief term, I’ll rest thereon secure, And dreaded death shall lose its sting, As of my Savior’s wounds I sing; His precious blood shall be the key That opens Heav’n for me.

  Now may He Who from the dead Brought the Shepherd of the sheep Jesus Christ, our King and Head, All our souls in safety keep. May He teach us to fulfill What is pleasing in His sight; Perfect us in all His will, And preserve us day and night.
