  God, the Hope of those who pray, God, our Help where here we stay, Life of those who pass away: We beseech Thee, hear us. Hear us for the men who fight For our honor and the right, Shield them with Thy glorious might: We beseech Thee, hear us. Father, Thou Who lovest all, Help them when on Thee they call, Ever keep them lest they fall: We beseech Thee, hear us. Christ, who died to right the wrong, Make our brothers brave and strong, Though the war be fierce and long: Hear us, holy Jesus. By Thy cross, O Christ, draw near Those who die, that they may hear Thine own voice, and have no fear: Hear us, holy Jesus. Holy Spirit, come, we pray, Guide our country day by day In the high and holy way: Hear us, Holy Spirit. Make us all a worthier race, Formed and strengthened by Thy grace, Make this world a holier place: Hear us, Holy Spirit.

  O Christ, our Hope, our heart’s Desire, Redemption’s only Spring! Creator of the world art Thou, Its Savior and its King. How vast the mercy and the love Which laid our sins on Thee, And led Thee to a cruel death, To set Thy people free. But now the bands of death are burst, The ransom has been paid, And Thou art on Thy Father’s throne, In glorious robes arrayed. O may Thy mighty love prevail Our sinful souls to spare; O may we come before Thy throne, And find acceptance there! O Christ, be Thou our lasting Joy, Our ever great Reward!   O Jesus my hope, for me offered up, Who with clamor pursued Thee to Calvary’s top, The blood Thou hast shed, for me let it plead, And declare Thou hast died in Thy murderer’s stead. Thy blood, which alone for sin could atone, For the infinite evil I madly have done, That only can seal my pardon, and fill My heart with a power of obeying Thy will. Come then from above, its hardness remove, And vanquish my heart with the sense of Thy love; Thy love on the tree display unto me. And the servant of sin in a moment is free. Neither passion nor pride Thy cross can abide, But melt in the fountain that streams from Thy side; Let Thy life-giving blood remove all my load, And purge my foul conscience, and bring me to God. Now, now let me know its virtue below, Let it wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow; Let it hallow my heart, and thoroughly convert, And make me, O Lord, in the world as Thou art. Each moment applied my weakness to hide, Thy blood be upon me, and always abide, My Advocate prove with the Father above, And speak me at last to the throne of Thy love.
