[11:7]  1 tn Heb “placed.”

[11:7]  2 tn Heb “in its midst.”

[11:7]  3 tn Heb “she/it.” See v. 3.

[11:7]  4 tc Many of the versions read “I will bring you out” (active) rather than “he brought out” (the reading of MT).

[18:2]  5 tn This word only occurs here and in the parallel passage in Jer 31:29-30 in the Qal stem and in Eccl 10:10 in the Piel stem. In the latter passage it refers to the bluntness of an ax that has not been sharpened. Here the idea is of the “bluntness” of the teeth, not from having ground them down due to the bitter taste of sour grapes but to the fact that they have lost their “edge,” “bite,” or “sharpness” because they are numb from the sour taste. For this meaning for the word, see W. L. Holladay, Jeremiah (Hermeneia), 2:197.

[18:31]  6 sn In Ezek 11:19, 36:26 the new heart and new spirit are promised as future blessings.

[20:42]  7 tn Heb “I lifted up my hand.”

[22:19]  8 tn The Hebrew second person pronoun is masculine plural here and in vv. 19b-21, indicating that the people are being addressed.

[22:19]  9 map For location see Map5 B1; Map6 F3; Map7 E2; Map8 F2; Map10 B3; JP1 F4; JP2 F4; JP3 F4; JP4 F4.

[36:25]  10 sn The Lord here uses a metaphor from the realm of ritual purification. For the use of water in ritual cleansing, see Exod 30:19-20; Lev 14:51; Num 19:18; Heb 10:22.

[36:28]  11 sn This promise reflects the ancient covenantal ideal (see Exod 6:7).

[36:31]  12 tn Heb “ways.”

[44:8]  13 tc Instead of an energic nun (ן), the text may have read a third masculine plural suffix ם (mem), “them,” which was confused with ן (nun) in the old script. See D. I. Block, Ezekiel (NICOT), 2:621.

[44:8]  tn This word is not in the Hebrew text but is supplied from the context.
