O I love to walk with Jesus Like the publicans of old, When He gathered them about Him And the blessèd tidings told; How He came to bring deliverance To the captives in distress, Take away our ev’ry burden, Giving perfect peace and rest.
I will follow where He leadeth; I will pasture where He feedeth. I will follow all the way, Lord. I will follow Jesus ev’ry day.
O I love to walk with Jesus Like the man of long ago Who had tarried by the wayside Near the gates of Jericho, Jesus heard his cry for mercy, Gave him back his sight that day, And immediately he followed Jesus all along the way.
O I love to walk with Jesus All the way to Calv’ry’s brow, Gaze upon that scene of suffering While my tears of sorrow flow. There He tells me how He loves me— Takes my ev’ry sin away; So I follow Him so gladly, Lead me anywhere He may.
O sometime I’ll walk with Jesus In that land of endless day, When our journey here is over And we’ve reached our home to stay. Then I’ll walk with him forever, Sing His praises o’er and o’er, And with all the saints in glory Love, and worship, and adore.
The light of God is falling, Upon life’s common way; The Master’s voice is calling, “Come, walk with Me today”; No duty can seem lowly To him who lives with Thee, And all of life grows holy, O Christ of Galilee!
Who shares his life’s pure pleasures, And walks the honest road, Who trades with heaping measures, And lifts his brother’s load, Who turns the wrong down bluntly, And lends the right a hand, He dwells in God’s own country, He tills the Holy Land.
Where human lives are thronging In toil and pain and sin, While cloistered hearts are longing To bring the kingdom in, O Christ, the elder Brother Of proud and beaten men, When they have found each other, The kingdom will come then!
Thy ransomed host in glory, All souls that sin and pray, Turn toward the cross that bore Thee; “Behold the Man!” they say; And while Thy church is pleading For all who would do good, We hear Thy true voice leading Our song of brotherhood.
Press on, press on, ye workers, Be loyal, brave and true: Great things the Lord is doing, And greater things will do; His army, still increasing With each revolving year, Shall send a sound of rapture forth That all the world shall hear.
Rejoice, rejoice, ye workers all, rejoice! O clap your hands and sing, O clap your hands and sing! God’s holy Church shall triumph yet, Triumph yet, triumph yet, And He shall reign our King, Shall reign our King.
The walls of leagued oppression To dust shall fall away; The sword of truth eternal, No pow’r on earth can stay; Tho’ all the hosts of darkness Were marshaled on the field, The Church of God would stand unmoved, With Christ her strength and shield.
Behold her marching onward, In majesty sublime, Along the rolling prairies That bound our western clime; And soon from every hamlet On all our vast frontier Glad songs shall rise to Jesus, While the skeptics turn to hear.
