TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Yesaya 29:23

Konteks

29:23 For when they see their children,

whom I will produce among them, 1

they will honor 2  my name.

They will honor the Holy One of Jacob; 3

they will respect 4  the God of Israel.

Yesaya 43:20

Konteks

43:20 The wild animals of the desert honor me,

the jackals and ostriches,

because I put water in the desert

and streams in the wilderness,

to quench the thirst of my chosen people,

Yesaya 49:23

Konteks

49:23 Kings will be your children’s 5  guardians;

their princesses will nurse your children. 6

With their faces to the ground they will bow down to you

and they will lick the dirt on 7  your feet.

Then you will recognize that I am the Lord;

those who wait patiently for me are not put to shame.

Yesaya 50:10

Konteks

50:10 Who among you fears the Lord?

Who obeys 8  his servant?

Whoever walks in deep darkness, 9

without light,

should trust in the name of the Lord

and rely on his God.

Yesaya 56:6

Konteks

56:6 As for foreigners who become followers of 10  the Lord and serve him,

who love the name of the Lord and want to be his servants –

all who observe the Sabbath and do not defile it,

and who are faithful to 11  my covenant –

Yesaya 58:13

Konteks

58:13 You must 12  observe the Sabbath 13

rather than doing anything you please on my holy day. 14

You must look forward to the Sabbath 15

and treat the Lord’s holy day with respect. 16

You must treat it with respect by refraining from your normal activities,

and by refraining from your selfish pursuits and from making business deals. 17

Yesaya 66:5

Konteks

66:5 Hear the word of the Lord,

you who respect what he has to say! 18

Your countrymen, 19  who hate you

and exclude you, supposedly for the sake of my name,

say, “May the Lord be glorified,

then we will witness your joy.” 20

But they will be put to shame.

[29:23]  1 tn Heb “for when he sees his children, the work of my hands in his midst.”

[29:23]  2 tn Or “treat as holy” (also in the following line); NASB, NRSV “will sanctify.”

[29:23]  3 sn Holy One of Jacob is similar to the phrase “Holy One of Israel” common throughout Isaiah; see the sn at Isa 1:4.

[29:23]  4 tn Or “fear,” in the sense of “stand in awe of.”

[49:23]  5 tn Heb “your,” but Zion here stands by metonymy for her children (see v. 22b).

[49:23]  6 tn Heb “you.” See the preceding note.

[49:23]  7 tn Or “at your feet” (NAB, NIV); NLT “from your feet.”

[50:10]  8 tn Heb “[who] listens to the voice of his servant?” The interrogative is understood by ellipsis (note the preceding line).

[50:10]  9 tn The plural indicates degree. Darkness may refer to exile and/or moral evil.

[56:6]  10 tn Heb “who attach themselves to.”

[56:6]  11 tn Heb “and take hold of”; NAB “hold to”; NIV, NRSV “hold fast.”

[58:13]  12 tn Lit., “if you.” In the Hebrew text vv. 13-14 are one long conditional sentence. The protasis (“if” clauses appear in v. 13), with the apodosis (“then” clause) appearing in v. 14.

[58:13]  13 tn Heb “if you turn from the Sabbath your feet.”

[58:13]  14 tn Heb “[from] doing your desires on my holy day.” The Qumran scroll 1QIsaa supplies the preposition מִן (min) on “doing.”

[58:13]  15 tn Heb “and call the Sabbath a pleasure”; KJV, NAB, NASB, NIV, NRSV “a delight.”

[58:13]  16 tn Heb “and [call] the holy [day] of the Lord honored.” On קָדוֹשׁ (qadosh, “holy”) as indicating a time period, see BDB 872 s.v. 2.e (cf. also Neh 8:9-11).

[58:13]  17 tn Heb “and you honor it [by refraining] from accomplishing your ways, from finding your desire and speaking a word.” It is unlikely that the last phrase (“speaking a word”) is a prohibition against talking on the Sabbath; instead it probably refers to making transactions or plans (see Hos 10:4). Some see here a reference to idle talk (cf. 2 Sam 19:30).

[66:5]  18 tn Heb “who tremble at his word.”

[66:5]  19 tn Heb “brothers” (so NASB, NIV); NRSV “Your own people”; NLT “Your close relatives.”

[66:5]  20 tn Or “so that we might witness your joy.” The point of this statement is unclear.
