102:13 You will rise up and have compassion on Zion. ¹ 

For it is time to have mercy on her,

for the appointed time has come.

102:14 Indeed, ²  your servants take delight in her stones,

Nehemia 1:3

1:3 They said to me, “The remnant that remains from the exile there in the province are experiencing considerable ⁵  adversity and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem lies breached, and its gates have been burned down!” ⁶ 

Nehemia 2:3

2:3 I replied to the king, “O king, live forever! Why would I not appear dejected when the city with the graves of my ancestors ⁷  lies desolate and its gates destroyed ⁸  by fire?”

Nehemia 2:13

2:13 I proceeded through the Valley Gate by night, in the direction of the Well of the Dragons ⁹  and the Dung Gate, ¹⁰  inspecting ¹¹  the walls of Jerusalem that had been breached and its gates that had been destroyed by fire.

Yesaya 64:10-11

64:10 Your chosen ¹²  cities have become a desert;

Zion has become a desert,

Jerusalem ¹³  is a desolate ruin.

64:11 Our holy temple, our pride and joy, ¹⁴ 

the place where our ancestors praised you,

has been burned with fire;

Daniel 9:17

Lukas 21:24

Wahyu 11:2

[102:13]  ¹ tn The imperfect verbal forms are understood as expressing the psalmist’s confidence in God’s intervention. Another option is to take them as expressing the psalmist’s request or wish, “You, rise up and have compassion!”
