27:9 Do not reject me! ¹ 

Do not push your servant away in anger!

You are my deliverer! ²

79:1 O God, foreigners ⁴  have invaded your chosen land; ⁵ 

they have polluted your holy temple

and turned Jerusalem ⁶  into a heap of ruins.

Mazmur 79:10

79:10 Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?”

Before our very eyes may the shed blood of your servants

be avenged among the nations! ⁷

95:7 For he is our God;

we are the people of his pasture,

the sheep he owns. ⁸

[27:9]  ¹ tn Heb “do not hide your face from me.” The idiom “hide the face” can mean “ignore” (see Pss 10:11; 13:1; 51:9) or carry the stronger idea of “reject” (see Pss 30:7; 88:14).

[79:1]  ³ sn Psalm 79. The author laments how the invading nations have destroyed the temple and city of Jerusalem. He asks God to forgive his people and to pour out his vengeance on those who have mistreated them.
