5:15 But the news about him spread even more, ¹  and large crowds were gathering together to hear him ²  and to be healed of their illnesses.

8:42 because he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. ³

[5:15]  ¹ sn That is, in spite of Jesus’ instructions to the man to tell no one about the healing (v. 14).

[5:15]  ² tn The word “him” is not in the Greek text, but is implied. Direct objects were frequently omitted in Greek when clear from the context.

[8:42]  ³ tn This imperfect verb could be understood ingressively: “she was beginning to die” or “was approaching death.”

[8:42]  ⁴ sn Pressed is a very emphatic term – the crowds were pressing in so hard that one could hardly breathe (L&N 19.48).

[13:17]  ⁵ tn Grk “And when.” Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.

[13:17]  ⁶ tn Or “were put to shame.”

[13:17]  ⁷ tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “but” to indicate the contrast present in this context.
