Kisah Para Rasul 25:26

Konteks
25:26 But I have nothing definite 7  to write to my lord 8  about him. 9  Therefore I have brought him before you all, and especially before you, King Agrippa, 10  so that after this preliminary hearing 11  I may have something to write.

[21:26]  1 tn BDAG 422 s.v. ἔχω 11.b.β has “temporal, to be next, immediately followingτῇ ἐχομένῃon the next day Lk 13:33Ac 20:15; w. ἡμέρᾳ added…21:26.”

[21:26]  2 tn That is, after he had undergone ritual cleansing. The aorist passive participle ἁγνισθείς (Jagnisqei") has been taken temporally of antecedent action.

[21:26]  3 tn Grk “entered the temple, giving notice.” The participle διαγγέλλων (diangellwn) has been translated as a finite verb due to requirements of contemporary English style.

[21:26]  4 sn The days of purification refers to the days of ritual cleansing.

[21:26]  5 tn Grk “until” (BDAG 423 s.v. ἕως 1.b.β.א), but since in English it is somewhat awkward to say “the completion of the days of purification, until the sacrifice would be offered,” the temporal clause was translated “when the sacrifice would be offered.” The point is that the sacrifice would be offered when the days were completed. Paul honored the request of the Jewish Christian leadership completely. As the following verse makes clear, the vow was made for seven days.

[21:26]  6 tn Grk “for each one.”

[25:26]  7 sn There is irony here. How can Festus write anything definite about Paul, if he is guilty of nothing.

[25:26]  8 sn To my lord means “to His Majesty the Emperor.”

[25:26]  9 tn Grk “about whom I have nothing definite…” Because of the length and complexity of the Greek sentence, the relative pronoun (“whom”) was replaced with a personal pronoun (“him”) and a new sentence begun in the translation at the beginning of v. 26.

[25:26]  10 sn See the note on King Agrippa in 25:13.

[25:26]  11 tn Or “investigation.” BDAG 66 s.v. ἀνάκρισις has “a judicial hearing, investigation, hearing, esp. preliminary hearingτῆς ἀ. γενομένης Ac 25:26.” This is technical legal language.
