TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Hakim-hakim 1:33

Konteks

1:33 The men of Naphtali did not conquer the people living in Beth Shemesh or Beth Anath. 1  They live among the Canaanites residing in the land. The Canaanites 2  living in Beth Shemesh and Beth Anath were forced to do hard labor for them.

Hakim-hakim 2:17-18

Konteks
2:17 But they did not obey 3  their leaders. Instead they prostituted themselves to other gods and worshiped 4  them. They quickly turned aside from the path 5  their ancestors 6  had walked. Their ancestors had obeyed the Lord’s commands, but they did not. 7  2:18 When the Lord raised up leaders for them, the Lord was with each leader and delivered the people 8  from their enemies while the leader remained alive. The Lord felt sorry for them 9  when they cried out in agony because of what their harsh oppressors did to them. 10

Hakim-hakim 7:8

Konteks
7:8 The men 11  who were chosen 12  took supplies 13  and their trumpets. Gideon 14  sent all the men of Israel back to their homes; 15  he kept only three hundred men. Now the Midianites 16  were camped down below 17  in the valley.

Hakim-hakim 10:6

Konteks
The Lord’s Patience Runs Short

10:6 The Israelites again did evil in the Lord’s sight. 18  They worshiped 19  the Baals and the Ashtars, 20  as well as the gods of Syria, Sidon, 21  Moab, the Ammonites, and the Philistines. 22  They abandoned the Lord and did not worship 23  him.

Hakim-hakim 11:26

Konteks
11:26 Israel has been living in Heshbon and its nearby towns, in Aroer and its nearby towns, and in all the cities along the Arnon for three hundred years! Why did you not reclaim them during that time?

Hakim-hakim 14:6

Konteks
14:6 The Lord’s spirit empowered 24  him and he tore the lion 25  in two with his bare hands 26  as easily as one would tear a young goat. But he did not tell his father or mother what he had done.

Hakim-hakim 19:22

Konteks

19:22 They were having a good time, 27  when suddenly 28  some men of the city, some good-for-nothings, 29  surrounded the house and kept beating 30  on the door. They said to the old man who owned the house, “Send out the man who came to visit you so we can have sex with him.” 31

Hakim-hakim 19:25

Konteks
19:25 The men refused to listen to him, so the Levite 32  grabbed his concubine and made her go outside. 33  They raped 34  her and abused her all night long until morning. They let her go at dawn.

[2:17]  5 tn Or “way [of life].”

[2:17]  6 tn Or “fathers.”

[2:17]  7 tn Heb “…walked, obeying the Lord’s commands. They did not do this.”

[2:18]  8 tn Heb “them”; the referent (the people) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[2:18]  9 tn The phrase “for them” is supplied in the translation for clarity.

[2:18]  10 tn Heb “the ones oppressing them and afflicting them.” The synonyms “oppressing” and “afflicting” are joined together in the translation as “harsh oppressors” to emphasize the cruel character of their enemies.

[7:8]  11 tn Heb “The people.”

[7:8]  12 tn The words “who were chosen” are supplied in the translation for clarification.

[7:8]  13 tn The Hebrew text has “in their hands.”

[7:8]  14 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Gideon) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[7:8]  15 tn Heb “tents.”

[7:8]  16 tn Heb “Midian.”

[7:8]  17 tn The Hebrew text adds “him” (i.e., Gideon).

[10:6]  18 tn Heb “in the eyes of the Lord.”

[10:6]  19 tn Or “served;” or “followed.”

[10:6]  20 sn The Ashtars were local manifestations of the goddess Ashtar (i.e., Astarte).

[10:6]  21 map For location see Map1 A1; JP3 F3; JP4 F3.

[10:6]  22 tn Heb “the gods of Syria, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the Ammonites, and the gods of the Philistines.”

[10:6]  23 tn Or “serve”; or “follow.”

[14:6]  24 tn Heb “rushed on.”

[14:6]  25 tn Heb “him” or “it”; the referent (the lion) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[19:22]  27 tn Heb “they were making their heart good.”

[19:22]  28 tn Heb “and look.”

[19:22]  29 tn Heb “the men of the city, men, the sons of wickedness.” The phrases are in apposition; the last phrase specifies what type of men they were. It is not certain if all the men of the city are in view, or just a group of troublemakers. In 20:5 the town leaders are implicated in the crime, suggesting that all the men of the city were involved. If so, the implication is that the entire male population of the town were good-for-nothings.

[19:22]  30 tn The Hitpael verb form appears to have an iterative force here, indicating repeated action.

[19:22]  31 tn Heb “so we can know him.” On the surface one might think they simply wanted to meet the visitor and get to know him, but their hostile actions betray their double-talk. The old man, who has been living with them long enough to know what they are like, seems to have no doubts about the meaning of their words (see v. 23).

[19:25]  32 tn Heb “he”; the referent (the Levite) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[19:25]  33 tn Heb “and he caused [her] to go outside to them.”

[19:25]  34 tn Heb “knew,” in the sexual sense.
