Ulangan 18:18-19

Konteks
18:18 I will raise up a prophet like you for them from among their fellow Israelites. I will put my words in his mouth and he will speak to them whatever I command. 18:19 I will personally hold responsible 1  anyone who then pays no attention to the words that prophet 2  speaks in my name.

Yesaya 55:3-4

Konteks

55:3 Pay attention and come to me!

Listen, so you can live! 3

Then I will make an unconditional covenantal promise to 4  you,

just like the reliable covenantal promises I made to David. 5

55:4 Look, I made him a witness to nations, 6

a ruler and commander of nations.”

Yohanes 5:22-24

Konteks
5:22 Furthermore, the Father does not judge 7  anyone, but has assigned 8  all judgment to the Son, 5:23 so that all people 9  will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.

5:24 “I tell you the solemn truth, 10  the one who hears 11  my message 12  and believes the one who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned, 13  but has crossed over from death to life.

Kisah Para Rasul 3:22-23

Konteks
3:22 Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must obey 14  him in everything he tells you. 15  3:23 Every person 16  who does not obey that prophet will be destroyed and thus removed 17  from the people.’ 18

Oh, that today you would listen as he speaks! 20

3:8Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of testing in the wilderness.

Ibrani 3:15

Konteks

Ibrani 5:9

5:9 And by being perfected in this way, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him,

Ibrani 12:25-26

Konteks

12:25 Take care not to refuse the one who is speaking! For if they did not escape when they refused the one who warned them on earth, how much less shall we, if we reject the one who warns from heaven? 12:26 Then his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “I will once more shake not only the earth but heaven too.” 24

[18:19]  1 tn Heb “will seek from him”; NAB “I myself will make him answer for it”; NRSV “will hold accountable.”

[18:19]  2 tn Heb “he”; the referent (the prophet mentioned in v. 18) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[55:3]  3 tn The jussive with vav (ו) conjunctive following the imperative indicates purpose/result.

[55:3]  sn To live here refers to covenantal blessing, primarily material prosperity and national security (see vv. 4-5, 13, and Deut 30:6, 15, 19-20).

[55:3]  4 tn Or “an eternal covenant with.”

[55:3]  5 tn Heb “the reliable expressions of loyalty of David.” The syntactical relationship of חַסְדֵי (khasde, “expressions of loyalty”) to the preceding line is unclear. If the term is appositional to בְּרִית (bÿrit, “covenant”), then the Lord here transfers the promises of the Davidic covenant to the entire nation. Another option is to take חַסְדֵי (khasde) as an adverbial accusative and to translate “according to the reliable covenantal promises.” In this case the new covenantal arrangement proposed here is viewed as an extension or perhaps fulfillment of the Davidic promises. A third option, the one reflected in the above translation, is to take the last line as comparative. In this case the new covenant being proposed is analogous to the Davidic covenant. Verses 4-5, which compare David’s international prominence to what Israel will experience, favors this view. In all three of these interpretations, “David” is an objective genitive; he is the recipient of covenantal promises. A fourth option would be to take David as a subjective genitive and understand the line as giving the basis for the preceding promise: “Then I will make an unconditional covenantal promise to you, because of David’s faithful acts of covenantal loyalty.”

[55:4]  6 sn Ideally the Davidic king was to testify to the nations of God’s greatness (cf. Pss 18:50 HT [18:49 ET]; 22:28 HT [22:27 ET]). See J. H. Eaton, Kingship in the Psalms (SBT), 182-84.

[5:22]  7 tn Or “condemn.”

[5:22]  8 tn Or “given,” or “handed over.”

[5:23]  9 tn Grk “all.” The word “people” is not in the Greek text but is supplied for stylistic reasons and for clarity (cf. KJV “all men”).

[5:24]  10 tn Grk “Truly, truly, I say to you.”

[5:24]  11 tn Or “obeys.”

[5:24]  12 tn Or “word.”

[5:24]  13 tn Grk “and does not come into judgment.”

[3:22]  14 tn Grk “hear,” but the idea of “hear and obey” or simply “obey” is frequently contained in the Greek verb ἀκούω (akouw; see L&N 36.14) and the following context (v. 23) makes it clear that failure to “obey” the words of this “prophet like Moses” will result in complete destruction.

[3:22]  15 sn A quotation from Deut 18:15. By quoting Deut 18:15 Peter declared that Jesus was the eschatological “prophet like [Moses]” mentioned in that passage, who reveals the plan of God and the way of God.

[3:23]  16 tn Grk “every soul” (here “soul” is an idiom for the whole person).

[3:23]  17 tn Or “will be completely destroyed.” In Acts 3:23 the verb ἐξολεθρεύω (exoleqreuw) is translated “destroy and remove” by L&N 20.35.

[3:23]  18 sn A quotation from Deut 18:19, also Lev 23:29. The OT context of Lev 23:29 discusses what happened when one failed to honor atonement. One ignored the required sacrifice of God at one’s peril.

[3:7]  19 sn The following quotation is from Ps 95:7b-11.

[3:7]  20 tn Grk “today if you hear his voice.”

[3:15]  21 tn Grk “while it is said.”

[3:15]  22 tn Grk “today if you hear his voice.”

[3:15]  23 sn A quotation from Ps 95:7b-8.

[12:26]  24 sn A quotation from Hag 2:6.
