8:18 Huram sent him ships and some of his sailors, men who were well acquainted with the sea. They sailed with Solomon’s men to Ophir, ¹  and took from there 450 talents ²  of gold, which they brought back to King Solomon.

16:14 He was buried in the tomb he had carved out in the City of David. ³  They laid him to rest on a bier covered with spices and assorted mixtures of ointments. They made a huge bonfire to honor him. ⁴

18:7 The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat, “There is still one man through whom we can seek the Lord’s will. ⁵  But I despise ⁶  him because he does not prophesy prosperity for me, but always ⁷  disaster. His name is Micaiah son of Imlah. ⁸  Jehoshaphat said, “The king should not say such things!”

2 Tawarikh 26:18

26:18 They confronted ⁹  King Uzziah and said to him, “It is not proper for you, Uzziah, to offer incense to the Lord. That is the responsibility of the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who are consecrated to offer incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have disobeyed ¹⁰  and the Lord God will not honor you!”

36:23 It read: “This is what King Cyrus of Persia says: ‘The Lord God of the heavens has given to me all the kingdoms of the earth. He has appointed me to build for him a temple in Jerusalem ¹³  in Judah. May the Lord your God energize you who belong to his people, so you may be able to go back there!” ¹⁴

[8:18]  ² tn The Hebrew word כִּכַּר (kikar, “circle”) refers generally to something that is round. When used of metals it can refer to a disk-shaped weight made of the metal or, by extension, to a standard unit of weight. According to the older (Babylonian) standard the “talent” weighed 130 lbs. (58.9 kg), but later this was lowered to 108.3 lbs. (49.1 kg). More recent research suggests the “light” standard talent was 67.3 lbs. (30.6 kg). Using this as the standard for calculation, the weight of the gold was 30,285 lbs. (13,770 kg).

[16:14]  ³ sn The phrase the City of David refers here to the fortress of Zion in Jerusalem, not to Bethlehem. See 2 Sam 5:7.
