2:11 King Huram ¹  of Tyre sent this letter to Solomon: “Because the Lord loves his people, he has made you their king.”

2:16 we will get all the timber you need from Lebanon ²  and bring it ³  in raft-like bundles ⁴  by sea to Joppa. You can then haul it on up to Jerusalem.”

19:4 Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem. ¹¹  He went out among the people from Beer Sheba to the hill country of Ephraim and encouraged them to follow ¹²  the Lord God of their ancestors. ¹³

20:6 He prayed: “O Lord God of our ancestors, ¹⁴  you are the God who lives in heaven ¹⁵  and rules over all the kingdoms of the nations. You possess strength and power; no one can stand against you.

[2:11]  ¹ tn Heb “Huram” (also in v. 12). Some medieval Hebrew mss, along with the LXX, Syriac, and Vulgate spell the name “Hiram,” agreeing with 1 Chr 14:1. “Huram” is a variant spelling referring to the same individual.

[2:16]  ² tn Heb “and we will cut down trees from Lebanon according to all your need.”

[2:16]  ³ tn Heb “to you,” but this phrase has not been translated for stylistic reasons – it is somewhat redundant.
