[10:4]  1 tn Heb “made our yoke burdensome.”

[10:4]  2 tn Heb “but you, now, lighten the burdensome work of your father and the heavy yoke which he placed on us, and we will serve you.” In the Hebrew text the prefixed verbal form with vav (וְנַעַבְדֶךָ, vÿnaavdekha, “and we will serve you”) following the imperative (הָקֵל, haqel, “lighten”) indicates purpose/result. The conditional sentence used in the present translation is an attempt to bring out the logical relationship between these forms.

[13:18]  3 tn Heb “at that time.”

[21:10]  4 tn Heb “and Edom rebelled from under the hand of Judah until this day.”

[21:10]  5 tn Or “from Jehoram’s control”; Heb “from under his hand.” The pronominal suffix may refer to Judah in general or, more specifically, to Jehoram.

[21:10]  6 tn Heb “he.” This pronoun could refer to Judah, but the context focuses on Jehoram’s misdeeds. See especially v. 11.

[29:30]  7 tn Heb “with the words.”

[29:30]  8 tn Or “seer.”
