Konteks
6:37 When your people 7  come to their senses 8  in the land where they are held prisoner, they will repent and beg for your mercy in the land of their imprisonment, admitting, ‘We have sinned and gone astray 9 , we have done evil!’ 6:38 When they return to you with all their heart and being 10  in the land where they are held prisoner and direct their prayers toward the land you gave to their ancestors, your chosen city, and the temple I built for your honor, 11

2 Tawarikh 7:3

Konteks
7:3 When all the Israelites saw the fire come down and the Lord’s splendor over the temple, they got on their knees with their faces downward toward the pavement. They worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, 12  “Certainly he is good; certainly his loyal love endures!”

2 Tawarikh 7:22

Konteks
7:22 Others will then answer, 13  ‘Because they abandoned the Lord God of their ancestors, 14  who led them out of Egypt. They embraced other gods whom they worshiped and served. 15  That is why he brought all this disaster down on them.’”

2 Tawarikh 11:23

2 Tawarikh 13:8

Konteks

2 Tawarikh 15:8

Konteks

15:8 When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he was encouraged. 29  He removed the detestable idols from the entire land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities he had seized in the Ephraimite hill country. 2 Tawarikh 16:9

2 Tawarikh 16:14

Konteks

2 Tawarikh 21:13

Konteks
21:13 but have instead followed in the footsteps of the kings of Israel. 2 Tawarikh 23:8

Konteks

23:8 The Levites and all the men of Judah 38  did just as Jehoiada the priest ordered. Each of them took his men, those who were on duty during the Sabbath as well as those who were off duty on the Sabbath. Jehoiada the priest did not release his divisions from their duties.

2 Tawarikh 26:11

[1:14]  1 tn Or “gathered.”

[1:14]  2 tn Heb “he placed them in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem.”

[1:14]  map For location see Map5 B1; Map6 F3; Map7 E2; Map8 F2; Map10 B3; JP1 F4; JP2 F4; JP3 F4; JP4 F4.

[6:5]  3 tn Heb “saying.”

[6:5]  4 tn Heb “to build a house for my name to be there.” Here “name” is used by metonymy for the Lord himself, and thus the expression “to be there” refers to his taking up residence there (hence the translation, “a temple in which to live”). In this case the temple is referred to as a “house” where the Lord himself can reside.

[6:34]  5 tn Heb “When your people go out for battle against their enemies in the way which you send them.”

[6:34]  6 tn Heb “toward this city which you have chosen and the house which I built for your name.”

[6:37]  7 tn Heb “they”; the referent (God’s people) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[6:37]  8 tn Or “stop and reflect”; Heb “bring back to their heart.”

[6:37]  9 tn Or “done wrong.”

[6:38]  10 tn Or “soul.”

[6:38]  11 tn Heb “your name.” The word “name” sometimes refers to one’s reputation or honor (thus the translation here, “your honor).

[7:3]  12 tn The word “saying” is supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[7:22]  13 tn Heb “and they will say.”

[7:22]  14 tn Heb “fathers.”

[7:22]  15 tn Heb “and they took hold of other gods and bowed down to them and served them.”

[8:6]  16 tn Heb “Solomon.” The recurrence of the proper name is unexpected in terms of contemporary English style, so the pronoun has been used in the translation instead.

[8:6]  17 tn Heb “the cities of the chariots and the cities of the horses.”

[8:6]  18 map For location see Map5 B1; Map6 F3; Map7 E2; Map8 F2; Map10 B3; JP1 F4; JP2 F4; JP3 F4; JP4 F4.

[8:6]  19 tn Heb “and all the desire of Solomon which he desired to build in Jerusalem and in Lebanon and in all the land of his kingdom.”

[10:16]  20 sn The people’s point seems to be that they have no familial relationship with David that brings them any benefits or places upon them any obligations. They are being treated like outsiders.

[10:16]  21 tn Heb “each one to your tents, Israel.” The word “return” is supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[10:16]  22 tn Heb “Now see your house, David.”

[10:16]  23 tn Heb “went to their tents.”

[11:23]  24 tn Heb “and he was discerning and broke up from all his sons to all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, to all the fortified cities.”

[11:23]  25 tn “and he asked for a multitude of wives.”

[12:5]  26 tn Heb “also I have rejected you into the hand of Shishak.”

[13:8]  27 tn Heb “the kingdom of the Lord by the hand of the sons of David.”

[13:8]  28 tn Or “horde”; or “multitude.”

[15:8]  29 tn Heb “strengthened himself.”

[15:8]  30 tn Heb “the porch of the Lord.”

[16:9]  31 tn Or “for.”

[16:9]  32 tn Heb “the eyes of the Lord move quickly through all the earth.”

[16:9]  33 tn Heb “to strengthen himself with their heart, [the one] complete toward him.”

[16:14]  34 sn The phrase the City of David refers here to the fortress of Zion in Jerusalem, not to Bethlehem. See 2 Sam 5:7.

[16:14]  35 tn Heb “and they burned for him a large fire, very great.”

[21:13]  36 tn Heb “and you walked in the way of the kings of Israel and caused Judah and the residents of Jerusalem to commit adultery, like the house of Ahab causes to commit adultery.”

[21:13]  37 tn Heb “the house of your father.”

[23:8]  38 tn Heb “all Judah.” The words “the men of” are supplied in the translation for clarity. The Hebrew text uses the name “Judah” by metonymy for the men of Judah.

[26:19]  39 tn Heb “angry.”

[26:19]  40 tn Traditionally “leprosy,” but this was probably a skin disorder of some type, not leprosy (technically known today as Hansen’s disease). See 2 Kgs 5:1.

[28:23]  41 tn Heb “the gods of Damascus, the ones who had defeated him.” The words “he thought” are supplied in the translation for clarification. The perspective is that of Ahaz, not the narrator! Another option is that “the kings” has been accidentally omitted after “gods of.” See v. 23b.

[28:23]  42 tn Heb “said.”

[29:25]  43 tn Heb “he”; the referent (King Hezekiah) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[29:25]  44 tn Or “seer.”

[30:1]  45 map For location see Map5 B1; Map6 F3; Map7 E2; Map8 F2; Map10 B3; JP1 F4; JP2 F4; JP3 F4; JP4 F4.

[33:7]  46 tn Heb “In this house and in Jerusalem, which I chose from all the tribes of Israel, I will place my name permanently” (or perhaps “forever”).

[33:14]  47 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Manasseh) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[33:14]  48 sn The phrase the City of David refers here to the fortress of Zion in Jerusalem, not to Bethlehem. See 2 Sam 5:7.

[35:15]  49 tn Or “seer.”

[36:22]  50 tn The words “the reign of” are supplied in the translation for clarification.

[36:22]  51 tn Heb “to complete the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah.”

[36:22]  sn Regarding the promise he delivered through Jeremiah see Jer 29:10.

[36:22]  52 tn Heb “stirred the spirit of.”
