7:9 Then they said to one another, “It’s not right what we’re doing! This is a day to celebrate, but we haven’t told anyone. ⁶  If we wait until dawn, ⁷  we’ll be punished. ⁸  So come on, let’s go and inform the royal palace.” 7:10 So they went and called out to the gatekeepers ⁹  of the city. They told them, “We entered the Syrian camp and there was no one there. We didn’t even hear a man’s voice. ¹⁰  But the horses and donkeys are still tied up, and the tents remain up.” ¹¹

7:13 One of his advisers replied, “Pick some men and have them take five of the horses that are left in the city. (Even if they are killed, their fate will be no different than that of all the Israelite people – we’re all going to die!) ¹²  Let’s send them out so we can know for sure what’s going on.” ¹³

10:13 Jehu encountered ²⁹  the relatives ³⁰  of King Ahaziah of Judah. He asked, “Who are you?” They replied, “We are Ahaziah’s relatives. We have come down to see how ³¹  the king’s sons and the queen mother’s sons are doing.”

14:9 King Jehoash of Israel sent this message back to King Amaziah of Judah, “A thornbush in Lebanon sent this message to a cedar in Lebanon, ‘Give your daughter to my son as a wife.’ Then a wild animal ³²  of Lebanon came by and trampled down the thorn. ³³  14:10 You thoroughly defeated Edom ³⁴  and it has gone to your head! ³⁵  Gloat over your success, ³⁶  but stay in your palace. Why bring calamity on yourself? Why bring down yourself and Judah along with you?” ³⁷

16:7 Ahaz sent messengers to King Tiglath-pileser of Assyria, saying, “I am your servant and your dependent. ³⁸  March up and rescue me from the power ³⁹  of the king of Syria and the king of Israel, who have attacked ⁴⁰  me.”
