18:33 Have any of the gods of the nations actually rescued his land from the power of the king of Assyria? ¹

23:4 The king ordered Hilkiah the high priest, the high-ranking priests, ²  and the guards ³  to bring out of the Lord’s temple all the items that were used in the worship of ⁴  Baal, Asherah, and all the stars of the sky. ⁵  The king ⁶  burned them outside of Jerusalem in the terraces ⁷  of Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel. ⁸ 

[18:33]  ¹ tn Heb “Have the gods of the nations really rescued, each his land, from the hand of the king of Assyria?” The infinitive absolute lends emphasis to the main verb. The rhetorical question expects the answer, “Of course not!”
