[2:18]  1 tn Heb “made.”

[2:18]  2 tn Heb “carriers of loads.”

[2:18]  3 tn Or “quarry workers”; Heb “cutters” (probably referring to stonecutters).

[2:18]  4 tn Heb “and thirty-six hundred [as] supervisors to compel the people to work.”

[2:1]  5 sn Beginning with 2:1, the verse numbers through 2:18 in the English Bible differ from the verse numbers in the Hebrew text (BHS), with 2:1 ET = 1:18 HT, 2:2 ET = 2:1 HT, 2:3 ET = 2:2 HT, etc., through 2:18 ET = 2:17 HT. Beginning with 3:1 the verse numbers in the ET and HT are again the same.

[2:1]  6 tn Heb “and Solomon said to build a house for the name of the Lord and house for his kingship.”

[5:16]  8 sn Unclean spirits refers to evil spirits.

[5:16]  9 tn Literally a relative pronoun, “who.” In English, however, a relative clause (“bringing the sick and those troubled by unclean spirits, who were all being healed”) could be understood to refer only to the second group (meaning only those troubled by unclean spirits were being healed) or even that the unclean spirits were being healed. To avoid this ambiguity the pronoun “they” was used to begin a new English sentence.

[5:16]  10 sn They were all being healed. Note how the healings that the apostles provided were comprehensive in their consistency.

[9:23]  11 sn Fitting the pattern emphasized earlier with Stephen and his speech in Acts 7, some Jews plotted to kill God’s messenger (cf. Luke 11:53-54).
