Araba-Yordan [kecil]

TB- Lembah sungai Yordan sebelah selatan, sehingga Laut Mati juga disebut: Laut Araba --> 19739.

ARABA [browning]

Lembah padang gurun yang membentang dari Laut Mati di *Galilea hingga Laut Merah. Lembah ini merupakan rute perdagangan yang penting dari utara ke selatan. Di dalam Ayb. 24:5 kata ini diterjemahkan dengan 'padang gurun' (desert) oleh NRSV dan NJB, dan' padang belantara' (wilderness) oleh REB, yang juga diikuti oleh TB-LAI.

ARABA [ensiklopedia]

Dipakai dalam bentuk kata sandang (ha-`araba). Nama ini berarti lembah celah yg memanjang dari Laut Tiberias (Kineret) hingga ke Teluk Akaba, dalam TBI disebut Araba-Yordan, Ul 1:1; 2:8; 3:17; Yos 11:2; 12:3. Laut Mati disebut Laut Araba (Ul 4:49; Yos 3:16; 12:3; 2 Raj 14:25). Kini, lembah dari hilir Yordan sampai dengan Laut Mati disebut Ghor, 'lembah', dan kata Araba hanya dipakai untuk lembah di selatan jurang-jurang Kalajengking sampai dengan Akaba. Yos 15:6, 61; 18:22 menyebut Bet-Araba, suatu perkampungan yg letaknya dekat Ain el-Gharba.
