48:11 For my sake alone 1  I will act,

for how can I allow my name to be defiled? 2 

I will not share my glory with anyone else! 3 

Yesaya 66:5

66:5 Hear the word of the Lord,

you who respect what he has to say! 4 

Your countrymen, 5  who hate you

and exclude you, supposedly for the sake of my name,

say, “May the Lord be glorified,

then we will witness your joy.” 6 

But they will be put to shame.

[48:11]  2 tn The Hebrew text reads literally, “for how can it be defiled?” The subject of the verb is probably “name” (v. 9).
