2:22 Look! I am throwing her onto a bed of violent illness, ¹  and those who commit adultery with her into terrible suffering, ²  unless they repent of her deeds.

3:9 Listen! ³  I am going to make those people from the synagogue ⁴  of Satan – who say they are Jews yet ⁵  are not, but are lying – Look, I will make ⁶  them come and bow down ⁷  at your feet and acknowledge ⁸  that I have loved you.

[2:22]  ² tn Or “into great distress.” The suffering here is not specified as physical or emotional, and could involve persecution.

[3:9]  ⁵ tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “yet” to indicate the contrast between what these people claimed and what they were.

[5:8]  ¹¹ sn This interpretive comment by the author forms a parenthesis in the narrative.

[7:15]  ¹² tn Or “worship.” The word here is λατρεύω (latreuw).

[7:15]  ¹³ tn Grk “will spread his tent over them,” normally an idiom for taking up residence with someone, but when combined with the preposition ἐπί (epi, “over”) the idea is one of extending protection or shelter (BDAG 929 s.v. σκηνόω).
