Mazmur 123:2

123:2 Look, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master,

as the eyes of a female servant look to the hand of her mistress, ¹ 

so my eyes will look to the Lord, our God, until he shows us favor.

Yesaya 17:7-8

17:7 At that time ²  men will trust in their creator; ³ 

they will depend on ⁴  the Holy One of Israel. ⁵ 

17:8 They will no longer trust in ⁶  the altars their hands made,

or depend on the Asherah poles and incense altars their fingers made. ⁷ 

Yesaya 45:22

45:22 Turn to me so you can be delivered, ⁸ 

all you who live in the earth’s remote regions!

For I am God, and I have no peer.

Mikha 7:7

7:7 But I will keep watching for the Lord;

I will wait for the God who delivers me.

My God will hear my lament. ⁹

[17:7]  ² tn Heb “in that day” (so ASV, NASB, NIV); KJV “At that day.”

[17:7]  ³ tn Heb “man will gaze toward his maker.”

[17:7]  ⁴ tn Heb “his eyes will look toward.”

[17:8]  ⁶ tn Heb “he will not gaze toward.”

[45:22]  ⁸ tn The Niphal imperative with prefixed vav (ו) indicates purpose after the preceding imperative. The Niphal probably has a tolerative sense, “allow yourselves to be delivered, accept help.”

[7:7]  ⁹ tn Heb “me.” In the interest of clarity the nature of the prophet’s cry has been specified as “my lament” in the translation.
