<p class="poetry">Not so with the wicked!p> <p class="poetry">Instead<n id="1" /> they are like wind-driven chaff.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">For this reason<n id="1" /> the wicked cannot withstand<n id="2" /> judgment,<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">nor can sinners join the assembly of the godly.<n id="4" />p>

<p class="poetry">May the evil deeds of the wicked<n id="1" /> come to an end!<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">But make the innocent<n id="3" /> secure,<n id="4" />p> <p class="poetry">O righteous God,p> <p class="poetry">you who examine<n id="5" /> inner thoughts and motives!<n id="6" />p>

<p class="poetry">You terrified the nations with your battle cry;<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">you destroyed the wicked;<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">you permanently wiped out all memory of them.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> revealed himself;p> <p class="poetry">he accomplished justice;p> <p class="poetry">the wicked were ensnared by their own actions.<n id="1" /> (Higgaion.<n id="2" /> Selah)p>

<p class="poetry">Yes,<n id="1" /> the wicked man<n id="2" /> boasts because he gets what he wants;<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">the one who robs others<n id="4" /> curses<n id="5" /> and<n id="6" /> rejects the <sc>Lordsc>.<n id="7" />p>

<p class="poetry">The wicked man is so arrogant he always thinks,p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;God won&#8217;t hold me accountable; he doesn&#8217;t care.&#8221;<n id="1" />p>

<p class="poetry">Why does the wicked man reject God?<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">He says to himself,<n id="2" /> &#8220;You<n id="3" /> will not hold me accountable.&#8221;<n id="4" />p>

<p class="poetry">May the <sc>Lordsc> rain down<n id="1" /> burning coals<n id="2" /> and brimstone<n id="3" /> on the wicked!p> <p class="poetry">A whirlwind is what they deserve!<n id="4" />p>

<p class="poetry">Rise up, <sc>Lordsc>!p> <p class="poetry">Confront him!<n id="1" /> Knock him down!<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">Use your sword to rescue me from the wicked man!<n id="3" />p>

<p class="poetry">O <sc>Lordsc>, do not let me be humiliated,p> <p class="poetry">for I call out to you!p> <p class="poetry">May evil men be humiliated!p> <p class="poetry">May they go wailing to the grave!<n id="1" />p>

<p class="poetry">Do not let arrogant men overtake me,p> <p class="poetry">or let evil men make me homeless!<n id="1" />p>

<p class="poetry">Evil men draw their swordsp> <p class="poetry">and prepare their bows,p> <p class="poetry">to bring down<n id="1" /> the oppressed and needy,p> <p class="poetry">and to slaughter those who are godly.<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">But<n id="1" /> evil men will die;p> <p class="poetry">the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s enemies will be incinerated<n id="2" /> &#8211;p> <p class="poetry">they will go up in smoke.<n id="3" />p>

<p class="poetry">Rely<n id="1" /> on the <sc>Lordsc>! Obey his commands!<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">Then he will permit you<n id="3" /> to possess the land;p> <p class="poetry">you will see the demise of evil men.<n id="4" />p>

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> helps them and rescues them;p> <p class="poetry">he rescues them from evil men and delivers them,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">for they seek his protection.p>

<p class="poetry">God says this to the evildoer:<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">&#8220;How can you declare my commands,p> <p class="poetry">and talk about my covenant?<n id="2" />p>

<p class="poetry">because of what the enemy says,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">and because of how the wicked<n id="2" /> pressure me,<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">for they hurl trouble<n id="4" /> down upon me<n id="5" />p> <p class="poetry">and angrily attack me.p>
