Yosua 2:4

2:4 But the woman hid the two men ¹  and replied, “Yes, these men were clients of mine, ²  but I didn’t know where they came from.

2:22 They went ³  to the hill country and stayed there for three days, long enough for those chasing them ⁴  to return. Their pursuers ⁵  looked all along the way but did not find them. ⁶

[2:4]  ¹ tn Heb “The woman took the two men and hid him.” The third masculine singular pronominal suffix on “hid” has to be a scribal error (see GKC §135.p).

[2:4]  ² tn Heb “the men came to me.” See the note on this phrase in v. 3.

[2:22]  ³ tn Heb “they went and came.”

[2:22]  ⁴ tn Heb “the pursuers.” The object (“them”) is added for clarification.

[2:22]  ⁵ tn Heb “the ones chasing them.” This has been rendered as “their pursuers” in the translation to avoid redundancy with the preceding clause.

[2:22]  ⁶ tn Heb “The pursuers looked in all the way and did not find [them].”

[17:14]  ⁷ tn Heb “Why have you given me as an inheritance one lot and one portion, though I am a great people until [the time] which, until now the Lord has blessed me?” The construction עַד אֲשֶׁר־עַד־כֹּה (’ad-’asher-’ad-koh, “until [the time] which, until now”) is extremely awkward. An emendation of the first עַד (’ad) to עַל (’al) yields a more likely reading: “for until now” (see HALOT 2:787).
