Yosua 2:14

2:14 The men said to her, “If you ¹  die, may we die too! ²  If you do not report what we’ve been up to, ³  then, when the Lord hands the land over to us, we will show unswerving allegiance ⁴  to you.” ⁵ 

Yosua 4:3

4:3 Instruct them, ‘Pick up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, from the very place where the priests ⁶  stand firmly, and carry them over with you and put them in the place where you camp tonight.’”

Yosua 4:8

4:8 The Israelites did just as Joshua commanded. They picked up twelve stones, according to the number of the Israelite tribes, from the middle of the Jordan as the Lord had instructed Joshua. They carried them over with them to the camp and put them there.

Yosua 7:2

7:2 Joshua sent men from Jericho ⁷  to Ai (which is located near Beth Aven, east of Bethel ⁸ ) and instructed them, “Go up and spy on the land.” So the men went up and spied on Ai.

Yosua 7:12

7:12 The Israelites are unable to stand before their enemies; they retreat because they have become subject to annihilation. ⁹  I will no longer be with you, ¹⁰  unless you destroy what has contaminated you. ¹¹

Israel Conquers Ai

8:1 The Lord told Joshua, “Don’t be afraid and don’t panic! ¹²  Take the whole army with you and march against Ai! ¹³  See, I am handing over to you ¹⁴  the king of Ai, along with his people, city, and land.

Yosua 11:21

11:21 At that time Joshua attacked and eliminated the Anakites from the hill country ¹⁵  – from Hebron, Debir, Anab, and all the hill country of Judah and Israel. ¹⁶  Joshua annihilated them and their cities.

Yosua 14:7

14:7 I was forty years old when Moses, the Lord’s servant, sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy on the land and I brought back to him an honest report. ¹⁷ 

Yosua 19:47

19:47 (The Danites failed to conquer their territory, ¹⁸  so they went up and fought with Leshem and captured it. They put the sword to it, took possession of it, and lived in it. They renamed it ¹⁹  Dan after their ancestor. ²⁰ )

Yosua 20:4

20:4 The one who committed manslaughter ²¹  should escape to one of these cities, stand at the entrance of the city gate, and present his case to the leaders of that city. ²²  They should then bring him into the city, give him a place to stay, and let him live there. ²³ 

Yosua 22:7-8

22:7 (Now to one half-tribe of Manasseh, Moses had assigned land in Bashan; and to the other half Joshua had assigned land on the west side of the Jordan with their fellow Israelites.) When Joshua sent them home, ²⁴  he rewarded ²⁵  them, 22:8 saying, “Take home ²⁶  great wealth, a lot of cattle, ²⁷  silver, gold, bronze, iron, and a lot of ²⁸  clothing. Divide up the goods captured from your enemies with your brothers.”

Yosua 22:14

22:14 He was accompanied by ten leaders, one from each of the Israelite tribes, each one a family leader among the Israelite clans. ²⁹ 

Yosua 24:27

24:27 Joshua said to all the people, “Look, this stone will be a witness against you, for it has heard everything the Lord said to us. ³⁰  It will be a witness against you if ³¹  you deny your God.”

[2:14]  ² tn Heb “Our lives in return for you to die.” If the lives of Rahab’s family are not spared, then the spies will pay for the broken vow with their own lives.
