Yohanes 8:26

8:26 I have many things to say and to judge ¹  about you, but the Father ²  who sent me is truthful, ³  and the things I have heard from him I speak to the world.” ⁴ 

Yohanes 17:25

17:25 Righteous Father, even if the world does not know you, I know you, and these men ⁵  know that you sent me.

[8:26]  ¹ tn Or “I have many things to pronounce in judgment about you.” The two Greek infinitives could be understood as a hendiadys, resulting in one phrase.

[8:26]  ² tn Grk “the one”; the referent (the Father) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[8:26]  ³ tn Grk “true” (in the sense of one who always tells the truth).

[8:26]  ⁴ tn Grk “and what things I have heard from him, these things I speak to the world.”

[17:25]  ⁵ tn The word “men” is not in the Greek text but is implied. The translation uses the word “men” here rather than a more general term like “people” because the use of the aorist verb ἔγνωσαν (egnwsan) implies that Jesus is referring to the disciples present with him as he spoke these words (presumably all of them men in the historical context), rather than to those who are yet to believe because of their testimony (see John 17:20).
