Yohanes 4:24-26

4:24 God is spirit, ¹  and the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” 4:25 The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (the one called Christ); ²  “whenever he ³  comes, he will tell ⁴  us everything.” ⁵  4:26 Jesus said to her, “I, the one speaking to you, am he.”

[4:24]  ¹ tn Here πνεῦμα (pneuma) is understood as a qualitative predicate nominative while the articular θεός (qeos) is the subject.

[4:25]  ² tn Both Greek “Christ” and Hebrew and Aramaic “Messiah” mean “the one who has been anointed.”

[4:25]  sn The one called Christ. This is a parenthetical statement by the author. See the note on Christ in 1:20.
