Yesaya 52:8

52:8 Listen, ¹  your watchmen shout;

in unison they shout for joy,

for they see with their very own eyes ² 

the Lord’s return to Zion.

Yoel 3:21

3:21 I will avenge ³  their blood which I had not previously acquitted.

It is the Lord who dwells in Zion!

[52:8]  ¹ tn קוֹל (qol, “voice”) is used at the beginning of the verse as an interjection.

[52:8]  ² tn Heb “eye in eye”; KJV, ASV “eye to eye”; NAB “directly, before their eyes.”

[3:21]  ³ tc The present translation follows the reading וְנִקַּמְתִּי (vÿniqqamti, “I will avenge”) rather than וְנִקֵּתִי (vÿniqqeti, “I will acquit”) of the MT.
