Yesaya 43:1
Konteks43:1 Now, this is what the Lord says,
the one who created you, O Jacob,
and formed you, O Israel:
“Don’t be afraid, for I will protect 1 you.
I call you by name, you are mine.
Yesaya 60:17
Konteks60:17 Instead of bronze, I will bring you gold,
instead of iron, I will bring you silver,
instead of wood, I will bring you 2 bronze,
instead of stones, I will bring you 3 iron.
I will make prosperity 4 your overseer,
and vindication your sovereign ruler. 5
Yesaya 65:7
Konteks65:7 for your sins and your ancestors’ sins,” 6 says the Lord.
“Because they burned incense on the mountains
and offended 7 me on the hills,
I will punish them in full measure.” 8

[43:1] 1 tn Or “redeem.” See the note at 41:14. Cf. NCV “saved you”; CEV “rescued you”; NLT “ransomed you.”
[60:17] 2 tn The words “I will bring you” are supplied in the translation; they are understood by ellipsis (see the preceding lines).
[60:17] 3 tn The words “I will bring you” are supplied in the translation; they are understood by ellipsis (see the first two lines of the verse).
[60:17] 4 tn Or “peace” (KJV and many other English versions).
[60:17] 5 tn The plural indicates degree. The language is ironic; in the past Zion was ruled by oppressive tyrants, but now personified prosperity and vindication will be the only things that will “dominate” the city.
[65:7] 6 tn Heb “the iniquities of your fathers.”
[65:7] 7 tn Or perhaps, “taunted”; KJV “blasphemed”; NAB “disgraced”; NASB “scorned”; NIV “defied”; NRSV “reviled.”
[65:7] 8 tn Heb “I will measure out their pay [from the] beginning into their lap,” i.e., he will give them everything they have earned.
