TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Yesaya 3:14

Konteks

3:14 The Lord comes to pronounce judgment

on the leaders of his people and their officials.

He says, 1  “It is you 2  who have ruined 3  the vineyard! 4

You have stashed in your houses what you have stolen from the poor. 5

Yesaya 29:13

Konteks

29:13 The sovereign master 6  says,

“These people say they are loyal to me; 7

they say wonderful things about me, 8

but they are not really loyal to me. 9

Their worship consists of

nothing but man-made ritual. 10

Yesaya 36:7

Konteks
36:7 Perhaps you will tell me, ‘We are trusting in the Lord our God.’ But Hezekiah is the one who eliminated his high places and altars and then told the people of Judah and Jerusalem, ‘You must worship at this altar.’

Yesaya 37:24

Konteks

37:24 Through your messengers you taunted the sovereign master, 11

‘With my many chariots I climbed up

the high mountains,

the slopes of Lebanon.

I cut down its tall cedars

and its best evergreens.

I invaded its most remote regions, 12

its thickest woods.

Yesaya 45:19

Konteks

45:19 I have not spoken in secret,

in some hidden place. 13

I did not tell Jacob’s descendants,

‘Seek me in vain!’ 14

I am the Lord,

the one who speaks honestly,

who makes reliable announcements. 15

Yesaya 45:23

Konteks

45:23 I solemnly make this oath 16

what I say is true and reliable: 17

‘Surely every knee will bow to me,

every tongue will solemnly affirm; 18

Yesaya 56:3

Konteks

56:3 No foreigner who becomes a follower of 19  the Lord should say,

‘The Lord will certainly 20  exclude me from his people.’

The eunuch should not say,

‘Look, I am like a dried-up tree.’”

Yesaya 59:21

Konteks

59:21 “As for me, this is my promise to 21  them,” says the Lord. “My spirit, who is upon you, and my words, which I have placed in your mouth, will not depart from your mouth or from the mouths of your children and descendants from this time forward,” 22  says the Lord.

Yesaya 63:5

Konteks

63:5 I looked, but there was no one to help;

I was shocked because there was no one offering support. 23

So my right arm accomplished deliverance;

my raging anger drove me on. 24

Yesaya 65:13

Konteks

65:13 So this is what the sovereign Lord says:

“Look, my servants will eat, but you will be hungry!

Look, my servants will drink, but you will be thirsty!

Look, my servants will rejoice, but you will be humiliated!

[3:14]  1 tn The words “he says” are supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[3:14]  2 tn The pronominal element is masculine plural; the leaders are addressed.

[3:14]  3 tn The verb בָּעַר (baar, “graze, ruin”; HALOT 146 s.v. II בער) is a homonym of the more common בָּעַר (baar, “burn”; see HALOT 145 s.v. I בער).

[3:14]  4 sn The vineyard is a metaphor for the nation here. See 5:1-7.

[3:14]  5 tn Heb “the plunder of the poor [is] in your houses” (so NASB).

[29:13]  6 tn The Hebrew term translated “sovereign master” here is אֲדֹנָי (’adonai).

[29:13]  7 tn Heb “Because these people draw near to me with their mouth.”

[29:13]  8 tn Heb “and with their lips they honor me.”

[29:13]  9 tn Heb “but their heart is far from me.” The heart is viewed here as the seat of the will, from which genuine loyalty derives.

[37:24]  11 tn The Hebrew term translated “sovereign master” here is אֲדֹנָי (’adonay).

[45:19]  13 tn Heb “in a place of a land of darkness” (ASV similar); NASB “in some dark land.”

[45:19]  14 tn “In vain” translates תֹהוּ (tohu), used here as an adverbial accusative: “for nothing.”

[45:19]  15 tn The translation above assumes that צֶדֶק (tsedeq) and מֵישָׁרִים (mesharim) are adverbial accusatives (see 33:15). If they are taken as direct objects, indicating the content of what is spoken, one might translate, “who proclaims deliverance, who announces justice.”

[45:23]  16 tn Heb “I swear by myself”; KJV, NASB “have sworn.”

[45:23]  17 tn Heb “a word goes out from my mouth [in] truth and will not return.”

[45:23]  18 tn Heb “swear” (so KJV, NAB, NIV, NRSV); NLT “confess allegiance.”

[56:3]  19 tn Heb “who attaches himself to.”

[56:3]  20 tn The infinitive absolute precedes the finite verb for emphasis.

[59:21]  21 tn Or “my covenant with” (so many English versions); NCV “my agreement with.”

[59:21]  sn The Lord promises the repentant (note “to them”) that they and their offspring will possess his spirit and function as his spokesmen. In this regard they follow in the footsteps of the Lord’s special servant. See 42:1; 49:2; 51:16.

[59:21]  22 tn Heb “from now and on into the future.”

[63:5]  23 sn See Isa 59:16 for similar language.

[63:5]  24 tn Heb “and my anger, it supported me”; NIV “my own wrath sustained me.”
