2:13 for all the cedars of Lebanon,

that are so high and mighty,

for all the oaks of Bashan; ¹

[2:13]  ¹ sn The cedars of Lebanon and oaks of Bashan were well-known for their size and prominence. They make apt symbols here for powerful men who think of themselves as prominent and secure.

[12:6]  ² sn See the note on the phrase “the Holy One of Israel” in 1:4.

[12:6]  ³ tn Or “is great” (TEV). However, the context emphasizes his mighty acts of deliverance (cf. NCV), not some general or vague character quality.

[36:4]  ⁴ tn Heb “What is this object of trust in which you are trusting?”

[36:13]  ⁵ tn The Hebrew text includes “and he said.”
