Yesaya 13:9
Konteks13:9 Look, the Lord’s day of judgment 1 is coming;
it is a day of cruelty and savage, raging anger, 2
and annihilating its sinners.
Yeremia 2:35
Konteks2:35 you say, ‘I have not done anything wrong,
so the Lord cannot really be angry with me any more.’
But, watch out! 5 I will bring down judgment on you
because you say, ‘I have not committed any sin.’
Yehezkiel 36:5
Konteks36:5 therefore this is what the sovereign Lord says: Surely I have spoken in the fire of my zeal against the rest of the nations, and against all Edom, who with great joy and utter contempt have made my land their property and prey, because of its pasture.’
[13:9] 1 tn Heb “the day of the Lord.”
[13:9] 2 tn Heb “[with] cruelty, and fury, and rage of anger.” Three synonyms for “anger” are piled up at the end of the line to emphasize the extraordinary degree of divine anger that will be exhibited in this judgment.
[13:9] 3 tn Heb “making desolate.”
[13:9] 4 tn Or “land” (KJV, NAB, NASB, NIV, NLT).
[2:35] 5 tn This is an attempt to render the Hebrew particle often translated “behold” (הִנֵּה, hinneh) in a meaningful way in this context. See further the translator’s note on the word “really” in 1:6.
