Yehezkiel 3:15

3:15 I came to the exiles at Tel Abib, ¹  who lived by the Kebar River. ²  I sat dumbfounded among them there, where they were living, for seven days. ³

22:26 Her priests abuse my law and have desecrated my holy things. They do not distinguish between the holy and the profane, ⁴  or recognize any distinction between the unclean and the clean. They ignore ⁵  my Sabbaths and I am profaned in their midst.

[3:15]  ¹ sn The name “Tel Abib” is a transliteration of an Akkadian term meaning “mound of the flood,” i.e., an ancient mound. It is not to be confused with the modern city of Tel Aviv in Israel.

[3:15]  ³ sn A similar response to a divine encounter is found in Acts 9:8-9.

[22:26]  ⁴ tn Or “between the consecrated and the common.”

[22:26]  ⁵ tn Heb “hide their eyes from.” The idiom means to disregard or ignore something or someone (see Lev 20:4; 1 Sam 12:3; Prov 28:27; Isa 1:15).
