Wahyu 12:16

12:16 but ¹  the earth came to her rescue; ²  the ground opened up ³  and swallowed the river that the dragon had spewed from his mouth.

Wahyu 17:2

17:2 with whom the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality and the earth’s inhabitants got drunk with the wine of her immorality.” ⁴ 

[12:16]  ¹ tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “but” to indicate the contrast present here.

[12:16]  ² tn Grk “the earth helped the woman.”

[12:16]  ³ tn Grk “the earth opened its mouth” (a metaphor for the ground splitting open).

[17:2]  ⁴ tn This is the same word translated “sexual immorality” earlier in the verse, but here the qualifier “sexual” has not been repeated for stylistic reasons.
