Ulangan 9:3

9:3 Understand today that the Lord your God who goes before you is a devouring fire; he will defeat and subdue them before you. You will dispossess and destroy them quickly just as he ¹  has told you.

Ulangan 22:25

22:25 But if the man came across ²  the engaged woman in the field and overpowered her and raped ³  her, then only the rapist ⁴  must die.

[9:3]  ¹ tn Heb “the Lord.” The pronoun has been used in the translation in keeping with contemporary English style to avoid redundancy.

[22:25]  ² tn Heb “found,” also in vv. 27, 28.

[22:25]  ³ tn Heb “lay with” here refers to a forced sexual relationship, as the accompanying verb “seized” (חָזַק, khazaq) makes clear.

[22:25]  ⁴ tn Heb “the man who lay with her, only him.”
