[7:24]  1 tn Heb “you will destroy their name from under heaven” (cf. KJV); NRSV “blot out their name from under heaven.”

[9:28]  2 tc The MT reads only “the land.” Smr supplies עַם (’am, “people”) and LXX and its dependents supply “the inhabitants of the land.” The truncated form found in the MT is adequate to communicate the intended meaning; the words “the people of” are supplied in the translation for clarity.

[9:28]  3 tn Or “wilderness” (so KJV, NASB, NRSV, NLT).

[32:31]  4 tn Heb “their,” but the referent (enemies) is specified in the translation for the sake of clarity.

[5:27]  5 tn Heb “the Lord our God.” See note on “He” in 5:3.

[16:17]  6 tn Heb “a man must give according to the gift of his hand.” This has been translated as second person for stylistic reasons, in keeping with the second half of the verse, which is second person rather than third.

[3:24]  7 tn Heb “Lord Lord.” The phrase אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה (’adonay yÿhvih) is customarily rendered by Jewish tradition as “Lord God.” Cf. NIV, TEV, NLT “Sovereign Lord.”

[3:24]  8 tn Heb “your servant.” The pronoun is used in the translation to clarify that Moses is speaking of himself, since in contemporary English one does not usually refer to oneself in third person.

[3:24]  9 tn Heb “your strong hand” (so NIV), a symbol of God’s activity.
