5:22 The Lord said these things to your entire assembly at the mountain from the middle of the fire, the cloud, and the darkness with a loud voice, and that was all he said. ¹  Then he inscribed the words ²  on two stone tablets and gave them to me.

A Historical Review

The Lord came from Sinai

and revealed himself ⁹  to Israel ¹⁰  from Seir.

He appeared in splendor ¹¹  from Mount Paran,

and came forth with ten thousand holy ones. ¹² 

With his right hand he gave a fiery law ¹³  to them.

NAB, NLT; see Deut 32:51). However, the language of holy war in the immediate context favors the reading of the MT, which views the Lord as accompanied by angelic hosts.

[33:2]  ¹³ tc The mispointed Hebrew term אֵשְׁדָּת (’eshdat) should perhaps be construed as אֵשְׁהַת (’eshhat) with Smr.
