TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Ulangan 4:42

Ulangan 11:2

Konteks
11:2 Bear in mind today that I am not speaking 3  to your children who have not personally experienced the judgments 4  of the Lord your God, which revealed 5  his greatness, strength, and power. 6

Ulangan 11:10

Konteks
11:10 For the land where you are headed 7  is not like the land of Egypt from which you came, a land where you planted seed and which you irrigated by hand 8  like a vegetable garden.

Ulangan 18:20

Konteks

18:20 “But if any prophet presumes to speak anything in my name that I have not authorized 9  him to speak, or speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die.

Ulangan 19:4

Ulangan 32:27

Konteks

32:27 But I fear the reaction 13  of their enemies,

for 14  their adversaries would misunderstand

and say, “Our power is great, 15

and the Lord has not done all this!”’

Ulangan 32:30

Konteks

32:30 How can one man chase a thousand of them, 16

and two pursue ten thousand;

unless their Rock had delivered them up, 17

and the Lord had handed them over?

[4:42]  1 tn Heb “the slayer who slew his neighbor without knowledge.”

[4:42]  2 tn Heb “yesterday and a third (day).” The point is that there was no animosity between the two parties at the time of the accident and therefore no motive for the killing.

[11:2]  3 tn Heb “that not.” The words “I am speaking” have been supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[11:2]  4 tn Heb “who have not known and who have not seen the discipline of the Lord.” The collocation of the verbs “know” and “see” indicates that personal experience (knowing by seeing) is in view. The term translated “discipline” (KJV, ASV “chastisement”) may also be rendered “instruction,” but vv. 2b-6 indicate that the referent of the term is the various acts of divine judgment the Israelites had witnessed.

[11:2]  5 tn The words “which revealed” have been supplied in the translation to show the logical relationship between the terms that follow and the divine judgments. In the Hebrew text the former are in apposition to the latter.

[11:2]  6 tn Heb “his strong hand and his stretched-out arm.”

[11:10]  7 tn Heb “you are going there to possess it”; NASB “into which you are about to cross to possess it”; NRSV “that you are crossing over to occupy.”

[11:10]  8 tn Heb “with your foot” (so NASB, NLT). There is a two-fold significance to this phrase. First, Egypt had no rain so water supply depended on human efforts at irrigation. Second, the Nile was the source of irrigation waters but those waters sometimes had to be pumped into fields and gardens by foot-power, perhaps the kind of machinery (Arabic shaduf) still used by Egyptian farmers (see C. Aldred, The Egyptians, 181). Nevertheless, the translation uses “by hand,” since that expression is the more common English idiom for an activity performed by manual labor.

[18:20]  9 tn Or “commanded” (so KJV, NAB, NIV, NRSV).

[19:4]  10 tn Heb “and this is the word pertaining to the one who kills who flees there and lives.”

[19:4]  11 tn Heb “who strikes his neighbor without knowledge.”

[19:4]  12 tn Heb “yesterday and a third (day)” (likewise in v. 6). The point is that there was no animosity between the two parties at the time of the accident and therefore no motive for the killing. Cf. NAB “had previously borne no malice”; NRSV “had not been at enmity before.”

[32:27]  13 tn Heb “anger.”

[32:27]  14 tn Heb “lest.”

[32:27]  15 tn Heb “Our hand is high.” Cf. NAB “Our own hand won the victory.”

[32:30]  16 tn The words “man” and “of them” are not in the Hebrew text, but are supplied in the translation for clarity.

[32:30]  17 tn Heb “sold them” (so NAB, NIV, NRSV, NLT).
