[4:21]  1 tn Grk “and being.” Because of the length and complexity of the Greek sentence, a new sentence was started here in the translation.

[4:21]  2 tn Grk “he”; the referent (God) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[4:2]  3 tn Or “was justified.”

[4:13]  4 tn Grk “pain.” This word appears only three times in the NT outside of this verse (Rev 16:10, 11; 21:4) where the translation “pain” makes sense. For the present verse it has been translated “worked hard.” See BDAG 852 s.v. πόνος 1.

[1:12]  5 sn A saying attributed to the poet Epimenides of Crete (6th century b.c.).

[11:13]  6 tn Grk “the promises,” referring to the things God promised, not to the pledges themselves.
