[78:27]  1 tn Heb “and like the sand of the seas winged birds.”

[87:6]  2 tn Heb “the Lord records in the writing of the nations.”

[87:6]  3 tn As noted in v. 4, the translation assumes a contrast between “there” (the various foreign lands) and “in her” (Zion). In contrast to foreigners, the citizens of Zion have special status because of their birthplace (v. 5). In this case vv. 4 and 6 form a structural frame around v. 5.

[106:2]  4 tn Heb “[or] cause to be heard all his praise.”

[144:3]  5 tn Heb “What is mankind?” The singular noun אֱנוֹשׁ (’enosh) is used here in a collective sense and refers to the human race. See Ps 8:5.

[144:3]  6 tn Heb “and the son of man.” The phrase “son of man” is used here in a collective sense and refers to human beings. For other uses of the phrase in a collective or representative manner, see Num 23:19; Ps 146:3; Isa 51:12.

[144:3]  7 tn Heb “take account of him.” The two imperfect verbal forms in v. 4 describe God’s characteristic activity.
