Mazmur 78:25
Konteks78:25 Man ate the food of the mighty ones. 1
He sent them more than enough to eat. 2
Mazmur 103:5
Konteks103:5 who satisfies your life with good things, 3
so your youth is renewed like an eagle’s. 4
Mazmur 123:3
Konteks123:3 Show us favor, O Lord, show us favor!
For we have had our fill of humiliation, and then some. 5
[78:25] 1 sn Because of the reference to “heaven” in the preceding verse, it is likely that mighty ones refers here to the angels of heaven. The LXX translates “angels” here, as do a number of modern translations (NEB, NIV, NRSV).
[78:25] 2 tn Heb “provision he sent to them to satisfaction.”
[103:5] 3 tc Heb “who satisfies with the good of your ornaments.” The text as it stands makes little, if any, sense. The translation assumes an emendation of עֶדְיֵךְ (’ed’ekh, “your ornaments”) to עֹדֵכִי (’odekhiy, “your duration; your continuance”) that is, “your life” (see L. C. Allen, Psalms 101-150 [WBC], 18).
[103:5] 4 sn The expression your youth is renewed like an eagle’s may allude to the phenomenon of molting, whereby the eagle grows new feathers.
[123:3] 5 tn Heb “for greatly we are filled [with] humiliation.”
