[33:1]  1 sn Psalm 33. In this hymn the psalmist praises the Lord as the sovereign creator and just ruler of the world who protects and vindicates those who fear him.

[34:3]  2 tn Or “exalt.”

[34:12]  3 tn Heb “Who is the man who desires life?” The rhetorical question is used to grab the audience’s attention. “Life” probably refers here to quality of life, not just physical existence or even duration of life. See the following line.

[34:12]  4 tn Heb “[Who] loves days to see good?”

[66:5]  5 tn Or “see.”

[66:5]  6 tn Or “acts” (see Ps 46:8).

[66:5]  7 tn Heb “awesome [is] an act toward the sons of man.” It is unclear how the prepositional phrase relates to what precedes. If collocated with “act,” it may mean “on behalf of” or “toward.” If taken with “awesome” (see 1 Chr 16:25; Pss 89:7; 96:4; Zeph 2:11), one might translate “his awesome acts are beyond human comprehension” or “his awesome acts are superior to anything men can do.”

[81:9]  8 tn The imperfect verbal forms in v. 9 have a modal function, expressing what is obligatory.

[81:9]  9 tn Heb “different”; “illicit.”

[96:9]  10 tn Or “in holy splendor.”

[103:21]  11 tn Heb “all his hosts.”

[103:21]  12 tn Heb “his attendants, doers of his desire.”

[135:19]  13 tn Heb “house” (here and in the next two lines).

[139:19]  14 tn The Hebrew particle אִם (’im, “if”) and following prefixed verbal form here express a wish (see Pss 81:8; 95:7, as well as GKC 321 §109.b).

[139:19]  15 tn Heb “men of bloodshed.”
