22:9 Yes, you are the one who brought me out ¹  from the womb

and made me feel secure on my mother’s breasts.

Mazmur 89:48

89:48 No man can live on without experiencing death,

or deliver his life from the power of Sheol. ²  (Selah)

Mazmur 104:29

104:29 When you ignore them, they panic. ³ 

When you take away their life’s breath, they die

and return to dust.

[22:9]  ¹ tn Or “the one who pulled me.” The verb is derived from either גָחָה (gakhah; see HALOT 187 s.v. גחה) or גִּיחַ (giyakh; see BDB 161 s.v. גִּיחַ) and seems to carry the nuance “burst forth” or “pull out.”

[89:48]  ² tn Heb “Who [is] the man [who] can live and not see death, [who] can deliver his life from the hand of Sheol?” The rhetorical question anticipates the answer, “No one!”

[104:29]  ³ tn Heb “you hide your face, they are terrified.”
