[22:7]  1 tn Or “scoff at, deride, mock.”

[22:7]  2 tn Heb “they separate with a lip.” Apparently this refers to their verbal taunting.

[22:7]  3 sn Shake their heads. Apparently this refers to a taunting gesture. See also Job 16:4; Ps 109:25; Lam 2:15.

[48:5]  4 tn The object of “see” is omitted, but v. 3b suggests that the Lord’s self-revelation as the city’s defender is what they see.

[48:5]  5 tn Heb “they look, so they are shocked.” Here כֵּן (ken, “so”) has the force of “in the same measure.”

[48:5]  6 tn The translation attempts to reflect the staccato style of the Hebrew text, where the main clauses of vv. 4-6 are simply juxtaposed without connectives.

[50:18]  7 tn Heb “you run with him.”

[50:18]  8 tn Heb “and with adulterers [is] your portion.”

[95:9]  9 tn Heb “where your fathers tested me.”

[107:42]  10 tn Heb “all evil,” which stands metonymically for those who do evil.

[109:25]  11 tn Heb “as for me, I am a reproach to them.”

[109:25]  12 sn They shake their heads. Apparently shaking the head was a taunting gesture. See also Job 16:4; Ps 22:7; Lam 2:15.
