118:7 The Lord is on my side ¹  as my helper. ² 

I look in triumph on those who hate me.

[118:7]  ² tn Heb “among my helpers.” The preposition may indicate identity here, while the plural may be one of majesty or respect.

[18:1]  ³ tn 2 Sam 8:1 identifies this region as “Metheg Ammah.”

[18:1]  ⁴ tn Heb “from the hand of the Philistines.” Here “hand” is figurative language for “control.”

[86:17]  ⁵ tn Heb “Work with me a sign for good.” The expression “work a sign” also occurs in Judg 6:17.
