9:25 For what does it benefit a person ¹  if he gains the whole world but loses or forfeits himself?

Luke 11:23

11:23 Whoever is not with me is against me, ²  and whoever does not gather with me scatters. ³ 

[9:25]  ¹ tn Grk “a man,” but ἄνθρωπος (anqrwpo") is used in a generic sense here to refer to both men and women.

[11:23]  ² sn Whoever is not with me is against me. The call here is to join the victor. Failure to do so means that one is being destructive. Responding to Jesus is the issue.
