Lukas 22:4

22:4 He went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers of the temple guard ¹  how he might ²  betray Jesus, ³  handing him over to them. ⁴

[22:4]  ³ tn Grk “him”; the referent (Jesus) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[22:4]  ⁴ tn Grk “how he might hand him over to them,” in the sense of “betray him.”

[23:4]  ⁵ tn Here δέ (de) has been translated as “then” to indicate the implied sequence of events within the narrative.

[23:4]  ⁶ tn Grk “find no cause.”

[23:4]  sn Pilate’s statement “I find no reason for an accusation” is the first of several remarks in Luke 23 that Jesus is innocent or of efforts to release him (vv. 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 22).
