Kejadian 50:2

50:2 Joseph instructed the physicians in his service ¹  to embalm his father, so the physicians embalmed Israel.

50:26 So Joseph died at the age of 110. ²  After they embalmed him, his body ³  was placed in a coffin in Egypt.

47:30 but when I rest ⁴  with my fathers, carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their burial place.” Joseph ⁵  said, “I will do as you say.”

[23:3]  ¹⁰ tn Some translate the Hebrew term “Heth” as “Hittites” here (also in vv. 5, 7, 10, 16, 18, 20), but this gives the impression that these people were the classical Hittites of Anatolia. However, there is no known connection between these sons of Heth, apparently a Canaanite group (see Gen 10:15), and the Hittites of Asia Minor. See H. A. [40:19]  ¹¹ tn Heb “Pharaoh will lift up your head from upon you.” Joseph repeats the same expression from the first interpretation (see v. 13), but with the added words “from upon you,” which allow the statement to have a more literal and ominous meaning – the baker will be decapitated.

[37:20]  ¹² tn The Hebrew word can sometimes carry the nuance “evil,” but when used of an animal it refers to a dangerous wild animal.

[37:20]  ¹³ tn Heb “what his dreams will be.”
