4:23 Lamech said to his wives,

“Adah and Zillah! Listen to me!

You wives of Lamech, hear my words!

I have killed a man for wounding me,

a young man ¹  for hurting me.

[4:23]  ¹ tn The Hebrew term יֶלֶד (yeled) probably refers to a youthful warrior here, not a child.

[14:8]  ² tn Heb “against.”

[14:15]  ³ tn The Hebrew text simply has “night” as an adverbial accusative.

[14:15]  ⁴ tn Heb “he”; the referent (Abram) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[14:15]  ⁵ tn Heb “he divided himself…he and his servants.”

[14:15]  ⁶ tn Heb “left.” Directions in ancient Israel were given in relation to the east rather than the north.
